Give me your ideas pleeeaaassseeeee!!!

Well, the end of the near is nearing for my first grader and once again I am looking for ideas for teacher gifts. I know alot of you who read my blog are or once were teachers so you would be able to help with this particualr assignment in a more personal way. The rest of you give me ideas on what you have done in the past. Now just becuase of who I am and the fact that I like to walk to a different beat I try to think outside the box. I know teachers love to get gift cards but seriously how many can one person get from a class of 22? Oh and keep in mind I have two teachers and a teachers aid to buy for this year. When Morgan was in K I made her teacher and the Teachers aid quilts done all in their favorite colors and they loved them. But since my quilt till' I drop phase is over we wont be going there again. :) Please hurry and get your ideas in to me since I only have a couple of weeks to pull it all together. Have a blessed day and thanks for your input.

On a side note let's remember to lift up the Steven Curtis Chapman family as they grieve the loss of their youngest daughter. They adopted through Bethany during the times we were so it was fun following thier story of how God brought them to a place to adopt from China. Pray for their son as he deals with his guilt and grief as well. Thank you God that they know and love you.

You might find some cute stuff on Etsy. I've been doing a lot of browsing on there lately and it's becoming my new go-to-gift place. All the gift are handmade so they're unique and different. I don't know if you saw my post, but that's where I got that cute apron in my picture. You could do an apron...maybe even an apron that's kind of teachery. I don't know...check Etsy out!!

I handmade/crafted/stamped Thank You cards one year for the teacher. Even though they were very cute, I told her she HAD to use them! No putting them aside for the perfect "Thank You". Then she could use them for all the other gifts she got from other parents. She really liked them and commented later that she used them and was getting good feedback!

I love Michelle's idea. And, you could enclose a Starbucks card along with the thank you cards.

Two words: gift cards. I know you think they are boring, but as a former teacher at RCS gift cards were truly the best gift. You really don't need a million mugs, stuffed animals, cookies and chocolate. It's the gift cards that are the best gift :) If you want to do something crafty you could get creative with what you put a gift card in. Maybe make a cute bucket or something that the teacher could use for pens on her desk.

Another cute gift is to make the teacher "hall passes", one for boys and one for girls. Oh, another gift I appreciated was when a parent donated games or toys for my classroom... comes in handy for rainy days.

First of all, I just love you and I LOVED your comment. So funny.
Okay. on to teachers. I'm with Jess on the gift card note, after having received only one successful off-registry gift (out of 8) I appreciate gift cards! However, I also agree with Kathy, etsy.com is awesome. If you're going to give a unique gift it should be objectionably cool.

I know this is kind of late, and I have never been a teacher, but I have a few great friends who are teachers and they LOVE gift cards. They have to buy almost everything for their classroom (outside of curriculum) out of their own pocket. One of those friends just spent $148 on reading books for her classroom library from the Scholastic warehouse sale. So I usually try to buy gift card to places like borders or staples or one of those stores for teachers. Then its not the same Starbucks gift card they always get (although most love that too), but it's something to help them as a teacher.
